Tour de France

The Tour de France is an annual bicycle race held in France and nearby countries. First staged in 1903, the race typically covers around 3,200 kilometres (2,000 mi) and lasts three weeks. As the best known and most prestigious of cycling's three "Grand Tours", the Tour de France attracts riders and teams from around the world.

22 July 2012: Bradley Wiggins becomes first British cyclist to win Tour de France! He secured his win with a dominating performance in Saturday's final time trial to extend his already commanding lead. Fellow Briton and Sky teammate Christopher Froome finished second, 3 minutes 21 seconds behind overall.

30 June 2012: Fabian Cancellara wins the prologue of the 2012 Tour de France. He is a Swiss pro-road bicycle racer for UCI ProTeam Team Leopard-Trek. Bradley Wiggins of the UK came in 2nd.

L'Auto was the first sponsor of the Tour de France, in 1903. Later known as L'Equipe.
