The Los Olivos general store. The Instrgram filters certainly help set the mood, but the town itself feels like you're stepping back 50 years.

This is the view from my friend Griff's home in Los Olivos, CA. It's a quaint little town a couple of hours north of LA in the heart of the Santa Ynez wine country. Definitely worth a weekend getaway.

I don't think a first tour of Santa Barbara wineries is complete without a visit to Fess Parker. Haven't been a big fan of their wines in the past, but hopefully this time...

I'm looking for to visiting Consilience this weekend and tasting the Purple Monster - a monster mélange of Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel that has enticing aromas of chocolate, blackberry and plum that lead to flavors of cola, coffee and ripe black fruit.

Looking forward to visiting Andrew Murray Vineyards during our outing to Los Olivos coming up. Especially anxious to taste their series of Syrahs.

A slow afternoon of bocce and drinking at the Napa Valley Reserve

Last time we visited Castello di Amorosa, Bedtime Stories was being filmed.

Jarvis Winery is the Disneyland of wineries - right down to a water feature in their HUGE cave that feels like you're on Pirates (without the Yo Ho Ho Ho...)! Wine is good, but there is most definitely better.

There are more beautiful images from Pride Mountain Vineyards, but hey .... it's pride rock! I prefer smaller wineries to tour, but Pride is gorgeous, has an incredible cave, and a very nice picnic area to use when trying to soak up some of the juice from a long day of tastings.

Newton Vineyard's beautiful grounds in Rutherford. Their unfiltered Merlot was one of my first favorite reds, and their unfiltered line-up continues to be excellent!

A shot of Chateau Boswell's tasting room in its cave. Private tastings only, but Josh the wine master himself sat down and poured us some of everything he had over a two hour tasting!

Chateau Boswell in St. Helena. So many great images from this amazing little winery I'll need to include at least two. This is the entrance to the tasting room and cave.

Inside the cave at Altamura Winery. Amazing high-end (at least for my wallet) reds, a really friendly staff, and the fact that most of your friends have never heard of it make it a great find.

Fisher Winery is a family owned winery right down to the fact that one of their vineyards is the Wedding Vineyard where - you guessed it - the founders got married! A little out of the way, but the staff, grounds, and wine make it worth the effort!

Just one of many wonderful shots from the deck outside Alpha Omega Winery in Rutherford. A must stop on a Napa tour for the beautiful winery itself but more importantly the fantastic wine!
