The U.S. Open is the oldest golf championship of national prominence in the United States dating back to 1895 (also known as the second leg in the Grand Slam of Golf). This tournament is one of the most challenging in the sport for both qualifying professional golfer or any amateur. In excited anticipation it holds all the "greats" of the game winning at least one to justify their historic resumes. This year the 2012 U.S. Open Golf Championship will be played at the historic Olympic Club, located in San Francisco, California; it's the fifth year the tournament has been held at this venue with the upcoming dates, June 14-17, 2012.
